who is Robert?
I could have written this in the third person, but honestly there’s too much distance there - so this is me. I’m Robert. I’ve got an accent so mixed I confounded self-professed accent expert Jack Howard, a love of tea that for a whole period of time had me bringing my own teapot to songwriting sessions, and a desire to make a positive difference in the world around me.
I guess that sounds a bit vague, so I’ll clarify. I was raised in an outward facing household in Scotland, a country that’s so incredibly blessed to have a deep and active interfaith community, and through that I was exposed to so many different beliefs & backgrounds - I’m also a Bahá’í, which brings with it a responsibility to creating unity around me, addressing problems head-on, and actively participating in community-building activities. So from a young age I learned that the world was so much larger and diverse than what I could immediately see, that I could tap into the humanity behind the stories I saw in the news, that everyone’s individual injustices and injuries belonged to us all.
So what do I actually do? Professionally I’m a songwriter, producer, and artist - I’ve also lived lives as a videographer & editor, dancer, and co-founder of an NPO. My desire to make that positive difference has meant that many of the songs I’m known for have that at their core - songs like ‘Home’ by mgk, X Ambassadors, and Bebe Rexha, ‘Beautiful Creatures’ by Illenium (feat. MAX), and ‘Save a Little Room’ by Jukebox the Ghost. It’s also meant that I actively seek out artists and creators who want to dive deep into meaningful conversations, to write the difficult and challenging songs.
I’m currently developing talent for Made Management, including Lemi, as well as continuing to release my own music when time allows.
