1. Wage A Little Peace Play
Wage A Little Peace
There's no reason why we can't be friends
We're just long-lost brothers on a damn big planet
It's okay, we'll find our way
And bring it all together now

I don't claim to have the answers
It's a shame that we can't fathom
All the reasons that
We could be here for
Fighting gets us nowhere
So we should try

To wage a little peace
Give a little more
There's no better place to start
Than at your own front door
And little by little we can change this
Wage a little peace
Give a little more
There's no better place to start
Than at your own front door
And little by little we can change the world

We're so caught up in our differences
How many ways can we subdivide 'til we break
It's all fake
All these superficial lines we make

I don't claim to have the answers
It's a shame that we can't fathom
All the reasons that
We could be here for
Fighting gets us nowhere
So we should try

To wage a little peace
Give a little more
There's no better place to start
Than at your own front door
And little by little we can change this
Wage a little peace
Give a little more
There's no better place to start
Than at your own front door
And little by little we can change the world

It would be easier
If we took what we said and we acted on it
Give me a reason, yeah
To sit and watch the world go by
Who cares if the season's right?
Oh time has never waited for us
We should never have to wait for the time
It's gone by
Yeah the time, it's gone by
To wage a little peace, give a little more
There's no better place than your own front door
Wage a little peace, give a little more
There's no better place than your own front door

To wage a little peace
Give a little more
There's no better place to start
Than at your own front door
And little by little we can change this
Wage a little peace
Give a little more
There's no better place to start
Than at your own front door
And little by little we can change the world

2. The Proposal Play
The Proposal
She took my hand and held it so tightly
I had her heart and it burned so bright, she
whispered and said "I want you to marry me"
"I want you to marry me"

She had the eyes of autumn in colour
Warm was her touch, she loved like no other
We'd bask in the moonlight watching the stars go by
Watching the stars go by

Oh in my dreams
I see things the way I think they ought to be
Oh silly me
Reality kicked in

I can't describe the way that I felt that first time
I saw her my senses were melted
She spoke and my voice was taken away from me
Was taken away from me

Oh in my dreams
I see things the way I think they ought to be
Oh silly me
Reality kicked in

Everybody seems to think that I'm a little crazy
For wanting to go so deep
But there's just one thing that comes between me and this dream
And I overlooked it in my rush to be redeemed
The smallest of steps can be much bigger than it seems to be
A finger to wear this ring

She took my hand and held it so tightly
I had her heart and it burned so bright, she
whispered and said "I want you to marry me"
"I want you to marry ..."

3. November Highway Play
November Highway
I need some room, perhaps a little space to breathe
My heads a mess and add to that my hearts a tease
Oh well, they say at 98 degrees you should be fine, you should be fine

I need some room, perhaps a little space to breathe
My heads a mess and add to that my hearts a tease
Oh well, they say at 98 degrees you should be fine, oh what a waste of expertise

If I could drive along that bright November highway with the windows down
The chill-air bites but I don't mind
If I could drive along that bright November highway I'll be fine, I'll be fine, I'll be fine
And all in good time

Oh what a view if you just take some time to see
Open your eyes I think you'll find it's what you need
Oh well, they say at sixteen hundred feet you'll feel just fine, I guess thats something they got right

If I could drive along that bright November highway with the windows down
The chill-air bites but I don't mind
If I could drive along that bright November highway I'll be fine, I'll be fine, I'll be fine
And all in good time

If I could drive along that bright November highway with the windows down
The chill-air bites but I don't mind
If I could drive along that bright November highway with the windows down
Oh I, if I could drive along that bright November highway I'll be fine, I'll be fine, I'll be fine, and all in good time

4. It's All Easy Play
It's All Easy
I think I finally found the room that I was looking for
With a neon view that's bright when they light up at night - it's red and white
I found a piece that's just my size, at least for now it feels just right
And if I'm ever feeling lonely I know my friends are only ever just a phone away
It seems to say

It's all easy if you try a little harder to make it right
It's all easy

I think I spent too long in finding just what's good for me
In a world so big, so small it's all a mystery - and now I see
I've ended up with time to spare, at least for now the feeling's there
That if I'm ever feeling lonely I know my friends are only ever just a phone away
It seems to say

It's all easy if you try a little harder to make it right
It's all easy

Feel the future coming, here I go
Give the voices nothing for the show
I can feeling a surging in my soul
It's in my soul

I think it's time for me to finally step outside my door
And leave behind me all the wonders of the great indoors
But it's times like this you have to seize to make your dreams reality
And if you're ever feeling lonely you know your friends are only ever just a phone away
And you know that phone is only ever just a room away
It seems to say

It's all easy if you try a little harder to make it right
It's all easy
It's all easy if you try a little harder to make it right
It's all easy

The Ninja's Lament
I am a ninja and I'm in disguise
I'm at a party and it's no surprise
That she hasn't seen me at all

It's hard as a ninja to make any friends
The top of the food chain meets the loneliest end
At least I have sweet skills with two katanas and my poison darts, yeah!
They say that to kill is the best way to a person's heart, yeah!

I'm fallin' behind the love line
Spendin' my best days in diguise
When I should be practicing my pickup lines
Instead I'm hiding in the shadows with my throwing knives

I am a ninja and I'm in disguise
I'm at a party and it's no surprise

On October 22nd, 2008, Robert Gillies and Samuel David Hale spent 10 straight hours in the now defunct Milkhouse Studios in Allston, MA. The tracks that came out of that session were a mix of old, new, funky and slow, and each one came out of that session with a new life and soul.

Search
And it starts with that feeling inside of your heart
That something was wrong from the start
No telling what it is

And you cringe 'cos the things that your life used to hinge on
Fade away and reveal that you've been gone
For far too long, for far too long

And you will find the time
To find out otherwise
And you will find the time
To figure out this life

In these moments that come so few and far between
Its in these moments you'll find your clarity

And you will find the time
To figure out this life
And you will find the time
Connect your heart and mind

Oh, oh, oh together, together, together
Oh, oh, oh together, together, together

Robert's second solo effort co-produced in the winter of 2007 by Duncan Thomas. 'The Day the World Heard' is a collection of songs written over the course of a year working as a volunteer at Maxwell International School with the exception of 'Clayton' which found its way from 'The Shape of Life' in a slightly altered incarnation. Each song has a life of its own but forms part of a whole which truly sums up a year of sacrifice, love and adventure. Robert is now gearing himself up for a full-length album.

This album is also available for purchase in the iTunes UK, US and Canada stores

The Shape of Life (EP)
1. Chapter One Play
Chapter One
I need a physician, doctor please make an incision
I don't know what's inside and it's scaring me
If I could just but comprehend what life has got around the bend
Or is hiding up it's sleeve, where are you leading me?

Here we go again
My life's become a repetition
My head begins to swim
In colours of my own rendition
I can't find the end
Chapter one is starting yet again

I should start by looking down, are both my feet upon the ground?
I gotta start somewhere, no better time than now
Now in a world of disbelief tell me who can I trust to guide me?
Some kind of pharisee? Are you kidding me?

Going nowhere
Running anyway to find just somewhere
Mirages fool me endlessly
I'll get there
Pushing never letting go and wondering how long its gonna be

Here we go again
My life's become a repetition
My head begins to swim
In colours of my own rendition
I can't find the end
Chapter one is starting yet again

I take a step back from this wall I've been way too close too
Comfort, I sacrifice all I know to be
So long, this loop of life's gone on and on and all I needed
Right here inside of me
And all I had to do was let it in

Here we go again
My life's become a repetition
My head begins to swim
In colours of my own rendition
I can't find the end
Chapter one is starting

Here we go again
Another part of life's just starting
Here we go again
Another flight to life's departing
Here we go again
Chapter one has finally reached an end
Lyrics
2. Shine
Shine
Somebody told her that you were leaving
Tell me that this is not the truth
So now she means nothing alone in her bedroom
Left with a hole where once was you

Full of doubt, left washed-out
A porcelain shell of who she was
Broken pieces on the floor
A girl with a heart that's oh-so pure

Try to slow down instead speeding up
It seems like your life is in a rut
Wave upon wave of irrational feelings
Tear themselves up inside your head

Heavy tears well up inside
Feeling so empty as you weep
Broken feelings on the floor
A man with a heart that's oh-so pure

Life's added pressures can bring you down
Weighted you feel like you could drown
Though dark as the night it is it won't last for long
Focus your thoughts upon the dawn

Full of doubt left washed out
Striving for what you know is there
Broken pieces on the floor
Revealed is a heart that's oh-so pure

Let it shine
Let it shine
Lyrics
3. Clayton
Clayton
You left with a gleam in your eye
Deep breaths marked each step
You said "People have the right to fly"
So give yourself a chance this time

You've been so long
Don't be sorry
You've been so long
But you can still come home
You can still come home

You pushed 'til the walls crumbled down
That the world might see in
Exposed it seemed that you might drown alone
Instead you reached that higher ground

You've been so long
Don't be sorry
You've been so long
But you can still come home
You've been so long
Don't be sorry
Don't be sorry

You left with a gleam in your eye
Deep breaths marked each step
You said "People have the right to fly"
Lyrics
4. You Will Know Play
You Will Know
You make me happy
So happy
And I seem to find a certain piece of mind
When I've here with you

You make me feel all the colours of the rainbow
And I can't help but follow wherever you may go
And if I brought you all the colours of the rainbow
I think you'd know
It's not a show
I think you'd know

You make me happy
So happy
And you don't need to say a single word
To make me feel this way

You make me feel all the colours of the rainbow
And I can't help but follow wherever you may go
And if I brought you all the colours of the rainbow
I think you'd know
It's not a show
I think you'd know
It's not a show

Happiness is all these colours I'm feeling
Higher than high and then bust out the ceiling
The chandelier will crash to the floor
But that's no matter 'cos our love's worth more
Than the things we own

You make me feel all the colours of the rainbow
And I can't help but follow wherever you may go
And if I brought you all the colours of the rainbow
I think you'd know (You'd know)
You make me feel all the colours of the rainbow
And I can't help but follow wherever you may go
And if I brought you all the colours of the rainbow
I think you'd know
I think you'd know

You make me feel all the colours of the rainbow
And I can't help but follow wherever you may go
And if I brought you all the colours of the rainbow
I think you'd know
Lyrics
5. Regret
Regret
You walked away
No parting words
My hands are trembling
Words I never said don't leave my mind

Your image pure
Visited each day my mind's eye finds a cure
I see you eye to eye
Murky-brown and swirling doors into the soul

I cannot close my eyes
For fear of losing sight of you
Of this I never speak
But will you ever know

I find no rest
Each day is spent in searching for a trace of you
I waste no breathe
Hoping that my search will never be in vain

You walked away
No parting words
My hands are trembling
Words I never said don't leave my mind

I cannot close my eyes
For fear of losing sight of you
Of this I never speak
But will you ever know

Lyrics
6. Sleepless Love Play
Sleepless Love
I can't help but lie awake
And watch the movie that the shadows make
They're dancing on the ceiling
And they won't chance to see me
Lost inside their love
Lost inside their love

Hearts don't rest
But minds need time
Love won't sleep
Inside this weary frame
I think I'll let this love into my mind
'Til the morning sun shines

The morning light creeps up my wall
Until the shadows have no room at all
Their love seems to have faded
But it's far from dissipated
It lives inside their hearts
It lives inside my heart

Hearts don't rest
But minds need time
Love won't sleep
Inside this weary frame
I think I'll let this love into my mind
'Til the morning sun shines

I can't help but lie awake
And watch the movie that the shadows make
They're dancing on the ceiling
And they won't chance to see me
Lost inside their love, love, love
Lost inside their love

Hearts don't rest
But minds need time
Love won't sleep
Inside this weary frame
I think I'll let this love into my mind
'Til the morning sun shines
Lyrics
7. Heart to Mind Play
Heart to Mind
Afraid to be in the right place at the right time
These words caress the hardened, speechless ground
In an instant I'm high above the earth below
But you're still there

Say it ain't so

Heart to mind is a line
So broken - disconnected - but from time to time
A spark ignites and sheds light
Into a still open mind
And I

And I still can't find that peace
The peace inside
And I still can't find that peace
The peace inside
Lyrics
